How it works

Three steps. The last one is in person.

  1. It tells you where to go right now

Tell it what you feel like and it recommends a place or one of today's events near you, always with the reason.

  2. It brings you together with the people going

You see how many of your friends are at a place and how many people are into the same things as you. Your friends join your plan with one tap.

  3. The rest happens in person

If you both want to, an alert introduces you right there. There's no chat between strangers: the first conversation is face to face.

Sample questions

Where can I get a quiet coffee and get some work done? A specialty coffee shop, a 6-minute walk. I picked it because you love specialty coffee and you told me you need to focus today. Specialty coffee shop, Coffee shop · 6 min walk. 1 friend here. More than 10 Skaify people here. More than 5 are into the same things as you. You're socializing here. Send an alert. Done. We'll only tell you if they accept. Your alert was accepted: Sofía, 29 years old. You're less than 100 meters apart. Walk over and say hi. You've met. Now you can add each other. Coming soon: Pay for your coffee through Skaify and get your discount.

For you

It really knows you.

It doesn't recommend what everyone likes. It recommends what suits you, based on what you tell it.

  • Your taste

Your cravings, how you like to move, your kind of plans and your vibe, which you pick when you sign up, and what you don't like.

  • The 40 questions on your profile

Your rhythm, who you go out with, what wins you over in a place, your music. None of them are required, and each one changes what it suggests.

  • Your mood

How you feel today. A low day isn't the same as a day you're up for anything.

  • Your budget

It suggests what fits your budget, without you having to say it every time.

  • Your restrictions

Your allergies and what you don't eat, checked dish by dish and not place by place, and what a place needs to have so you can get in.

Picked because...You love live jazz, you want something low-key today and it's a 6-minute walk away.Example

Your people

You're out in the real world. Skaify helps you know who to share it with.

To get closer to the people you want to meet and go out with your friends. No swiping, no matching, not a dating app.

From a number to a hello in person.

Six steps: you turn on I want to socialize at a place, you see how many are into the same things as you with no names or photos, you send an alert, if the other person accepts you see each other’s first name, photo and age, Skaify tells you you’re less than 100 meters apart, and you say hi in person.

  1. I want to socialize here

On a plan in your day, once you're there or in the hour before, you turn it on for two hours or for as long as the activity lasts. Only then do you count.

  2. You see how many are into the same things

Numbers, never people: no names or photos, in fives, and under five nothing shows.

  3. You send an alert

It goes to whoever is there, is into the same things and said they're open. You don't pick who, and they don't know who you are.

  4. If they accept, you see each other

First name, photo and age, nothing else. If they say no, you aren't told.

  5. Skaify tells you you're close

After a second yes from both of you: less than 100 meters, less than 300 or close by. Never where.

  6. And you say hi in person

When you meet you swap a four-digit code and can add each other. There's no chat between strangers: the first conversation is face to face.

You choose how you show up

Three layers, and each one says what it opens. Change it whenever you want and it applies right away.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

For you

Is it a dating app?

No. Skaify doesn't match and there's no swiping. It puts you in the same place as other people: open events you can show up to alone, plans with your friends and, wherever you are, how many people are into the same things as you. If you both want to, an alert introduces you right there. Skaify doesn't replace human interaction, it sparks it.

How much does it cost?

It's free to download, and so are adding friends, posting your status, group plans and “I want to socialize”. The free version has a daily limit on messages with Skaify and on activities, which Skaify Premium removes; your app store shows the price in your currency. And if you're among the first 5,000 in your city, everything Skaify does today is free, forever.

How does Skaify know what to recommend?

From what you tell it when you sign up and in the chat: your taste, your budget, who you go out with, what you don't like, your restrictions and how you feel today, plus what's near you. Every pick comes with the reason and how many minutes away it is.

What is the Explore map?

It's a map of what's around you. It opens with nothing switched on: you turn on up to three categories at a time and the pins appear. Move the map and it searches again where you left it. Tap a pin and you get the place's listing, why it fits you and how many minutes away it is.

What is the community map?

A map with the pins Skaify people drop while they’re there: a place they loved, a bazaar, a market, a stall, a notice or an animal they found. Temporary ones disappear on their own when they’re over. Every pin shows the name of whoever dropped it, so never drop one inside your home. The point is saved rounded to about 11 meters.

How do I find events?

The Explore map has an events category. It shows the events places and people post on Skaify, including upcoming ones, plus ticketed Ticketmaster events near you. Tap “I'm going” on a Skaify event and it's added to your day. Ticketmaster tickets are bought on Ticketmaster: Skaify doesn't sell tickets.

Can I create my own event?

Yes, with Premium. Make it public or private, invite people by email or from your contacts, see who's going, share the link and repeat it weekly or monthly.

Does Skaify make reservations?

We don't book for you yet. A restaurant's page has a Reserve button that opens the reservations page with the name already filled in, plus Directions and, when the place has them, call or WhatsApp.

Does Skaify read my calendar?

Only if you want, and only your free time. When you ask for a plan, it asks you once if it can look at when you’re free. It reads the start and end times of your commitments on your phone, never what they are, and only sends Skaify your free hours, rounded. Turn it off in Settings anytime. And the plans you add are saved to your calendar, with a reminder 30 minutes before.

I have allergies or don't eat certain things. Does it take that into account?

Yes. Add it when you sign up or in your preferences, and Skaify checks it dish by dish, not place by place: if you're allergic to shrimp it won't rule out a whole seafood place, it just makes sure what it suggests you order is shrimp-free.

What if I travel?

Tell Skaify something like “I want to go to Mexico City this weekend” and it searches there in that chat, without changing your city.

Your people

Can I make plans with my friends?

Yes, and it's free. You find them by name or @ and follow each other; when you both follow each other, you are friends. On their profile you see the places they've been (if they share them), the events they're going to and their status today. From there you build a plan and send it: each person answers “Going” or “Can't make it”. Skaify blends everyone's taste and respects what each person can't eat. You can even mark “My treat today”.

What is posting your status?

It means saying out loud that you want to go out. You pick between “I want to do something”, “I already have a plan” or “I need to get people together”, it lasts 24 hours and you take it down whenever you want. Who sees it isn't decided each time: you decide it once in Privacy, between everyone, your friends only, or nobody, and it applies to every status you post. If you set it to everyone, you show up on a list for people you don't know, within 5 km of whoever is looking or across your whole city if that person didn't share their location, with your name, your photo and an approximate distance. Never your location and never the time.

What is “I want to socialize”?

It's knowing how many Skaify people are where you are, never who they are. When you're about to go to a plan in your day, in the hour before or once you're there, you turn on “I want to socialize” and count inside that place's number, for two hours or for as long as the activity lasts. You see how many of your friends are there, how many Skaify people and how many are into the same things as you. For people you don't know it's rounded in fives, with no names or photos, and under five no number shows. The friends you choose to let see your plans do know you're there. It's free.

How does the alert to meet work?

It only exists in the “I want to meet people” layer and only for people 18 and over. If you turned on “I want to socialize” at a place, or at an event while it's on, you can send an alert: it goes to whoever is there, is into the same things as you and said they're open to it. You don't pick who. Whoever gets it sees nothing about you until they accept; if they say no, you aren't told and you can't send them another one. If they accept, you both see each other's first name, photo and age. If you both say yes again, your phones say if you're close or far, never where. When you meet, you swap a four-digit code and then you can add each other as friends.

Can I send messages inside Skaify?

Only between friends, and a new friendship waits 24 hours before the first message. Strangers can't write to each other, not even after an alert, and that's on purpose: Skaify doesn't replace human interaction, it sparks it. The idea is that the first conversation happens in person.

Privacy and account

What do other people see about me?

Whatever you decide, and you decide it in Privacy. First you pick your layer: invisible, social, or I want to meet people. Your profile carries the basics, and the places you go start out visible to your friends only. If you turn on “I want to socialize” at a place, to people you don't know you're part of a number, with no name or photo; only the friends you let see your plans know it's you. Your status has its own setting, which also starts out friends only: if you open it to everyone, you show up on a list for people you don't know, with your name, your photo and an approximate distance. Your profile can be public or private: we ask you the first time you open it and you can change it anytime. If you drop a pin on the community map, it shows your name. If you say you're going to a public event, anyone with an account can see you're going. Never your location and never the time: distance goes in ranges and nobody knows where you are. You can only message someone once you are friends, and you can report or block anyone right there. The full details are in Safety and our Privacy Policy.

What do you do with my data?

To make Skaify work: recommending places and plans, connecting you with your friends, the social features you turn on and keeping the community safe. We don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers and we don't use it for ads. Your contacts are only read on your phone and you can delete your account from the app. Everything is in our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, in the app: the button is at the very bottom of your profile. It really deletes your profile, your plans, your photos, your messages and your history, and it can't be undone.

Which languages is it in?

Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese. It talks to you in your phone’s language, and you can change it anytime from your profile.

Businesses

I run a business, how do I get listed?

Register it in the app: choose “My Place” or “An Event”, fill in your details, preview your listing and activate your plan. Then you manage it from your dashboard at skaify.com/negocios, including if you have several locations.

What can I post live?

From your dashboard: how busy it is (quiet, medium or packed), what's playing, your current promo and today's event. People see it on your listing as “Today at this spot”. You can also set today's goal and a note that clears itself the next day.

What do I see about people?

Only totals, never who: how many times we recommended you, opened your listing and added you to their day, at what times, confirmed visits and rating. Counts of distinct people only show up from five. You also see what kind of people find you, by age and gender, in rounded percentages; gender only counts people who agreed to share it. The only thing signed by someone are reviews, which are public on your listing the same way anyone sees them in the app.
